Savin Engineers has an immediate opening for an Assistant Resident Engineer for a long-term project in Manhattan. The role involves managing the scope of work, schedule, contractor’s field procedures, construction issues, and other technical aspects to ensure successful project delivery within budget and schedule. The work primarily relates to building improvements, civil site work, utility modifications and upgrades, and traffic maintenance, with some electrical, environmental, and plumbing knowledge.

Responsibilities

1. Act as the day-to-day construction manager for assigned projects, reporting to the Senior Resident Engineer.
2. Understand the Contract and assist the Senior Resident Engineer in administering and enforcing its clauses to complete projects.
3. Advise the Senior Resident Engineer on contractor disputes and assist in resolving them through administrative processes.
4. Oversee field staff to ensure proper installation, project progress, documentation, and compliance.
5. Review contractor payments, assist in reporting monthly construction progress and financial health, and escalate potential issues.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• At least 10 years of experience managing construction projects of various sizes.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain a high SWAC clearance.
• OSHA 30 certification (can be obtained if needed).
• Desirable certifications include ACI Concrete Special Inspector, Structural Steel Bolting Inspector, and Work Zone Safety Certifications.
