Job description

Armand Corporation, an award-winning M/WBE Construction Management firm with over 33 years of industry experience, is seeking a full-time Assistant Resident Engineer in the New York City area. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with a focus on rails, tunnels, structures, bridges, and roadways, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, or a related field from an accredited institution.

If selected, candidates will need to provide digital proof of licensure and certification for all U.S.-based accolades, including academic degree, before time of interview. Information provided is handled with discretion and will be used purely for benefit of employment with various government agency clients and associated background checks.

This position will be full-time, on-site. Candidates are expected to live in or near the New York City Metropolitan area.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ensure that construction work is performed in compliance with the contract drawings, specifications, and all applicable codes and standards.
  • Coordinate with contractors, facility personnel, design consultants, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Conduct site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety of construction work.
  • Coordinate construction work with necessary parties to ensure that contracts are complete with minimum disruption to any existing facility/operations.
  • Compile comprehensive inspection reports, documenting findings and recording any deviations or discrepancies from approved plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate work activities and remove roadblocks to maintain project momentum.
  • Track work in place for payments and forecast percentage complete.
  • Identify and initiate Change Orders as necessary.
  • Manage subcontractor qualifications and coordination.
  • Coordinate site logistics to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

QUALIFICATIONS include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Structural, and/or Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in heavy civil construction, with a focus on rails, tunnels, structures, bridges, and roadways.
  • Extensive experience managing large shafts and excavation operations, including oversight of safety protocols and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Experience in tunneling projects preferred.
  • NJ Transit, MTA, or Amtrak safety training preferred.
  • Local experience is helpful, but not required.
  • Ability to pass a TWIC and/or SWAC background check at a high level.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • On-site presence required 100% of the time.
  • No license is required.
