Job summary

Michiganprosecutor is seeking an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney to review warrants, determine charges, and prosecute criminal cases in circuit, family, probate, and district courts. Under supervision, you will present cases and help resolve matters when appropriate.

Qualifications

• Law degree from an accredited law school.
• Criminal law knowledge and research skills.
• Strong written and oral advocacy abilities.

Responsibilities

• Review criminal warrant requests and analyze police reports to determine grounds for warrants.
• Prepare and prosecute criminal cases in circuit, family, probate, and district courts.
• Represent the People in arraignments, trials, and sentencing proceedings; examine witnesses and present arguments.
• Coordinate with law enforcement agencies to ensure proper investigation and reporting.
• Plea negotiations and disposition of cases with attorneys, victims, and parties.
• Draft motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Review and authorize search warrants as appropriate.
• Respond to citizen inquiries and provide legal information as needed.
• Provide legal advice to county agencies and department heads on relevant issues.
• Assist in appeals and represent in probate court matters as required.
• Serve in an on-call capacity to prepare warrants or charging documents outside business hours.
