Job summary

The Shiawassee County Prosecutor's Office seeks an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney to review warrants, determine charges, and prosecute criminal cases in circuit, family, probate, and district courts. You will present cases, argue motions, and work with law enforcement to build strong prosecutions.

Entry- to mid-level position with a law degree licensed in Michigan; criminal law experience preferred. Full-time with full benefits; salary range $70,324 to $86,028 yearly.

Qualifications

• Law degree from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in Michigan.
• Criminal law experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews criminal warrant requests; analyzes police reports; researches applicable law.
• Researches and prepares criminal cases for trial, motion, sentencing, or other proceedings.
• Appears in court for arraignments, motions, trials, sentencings, or other proceedings.
• Represents the People of the State of Michigan or other parties; selects juries and argues cases.
• Cooperates with law enforcement to ensure investigation and reporting.
• Represents petitions in probate or district court as needed.
