Grace Klein Community (GKC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering community, addressing food insecurity, and promoting sustainability. We work collaboratively with local and global partners to serve those in need, building relationships to create lasting impact.

Our most important function is as a ministry. People come first. No matter the task at hand, we do everything in our power to make a place for everyone. We stop and listen, we pray, and we encourage gifts, skills, and purpose. We foster relationships with people where they are, whether in abundance or crisis. Our vision comes down to the basics of the early church: "We all have a need; we all have something to give. If we all share what we have, we all have what we need."

Position Overview

The Assistant Project Manager supports the care, maintenance, improvement, and operational readiness of Grace Klein Community's facilities and properties, including FeedBHM locations, Community Homes, and other ministry sites. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, solving problems, and serving others by ensuring our spaces remain safe, functional, and welcoming.

The Assistant Project Manager works alongside the Project Manager to complete maintenance tasks, coordinate projects across multiple locations, respond to facility needs, and assist with equipment, landscaping, repairs, and special projects.

  • Transport tools, equipment, and materials between locations.
  • Operate lawn mowers, trailers, and other maintenance equipment safely.
  • Assist with the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of organizational equipment, including trailers, small engines, and gasoline- and diesel-powered machinery, ensuring equipment remains safe, reliable, and mission-ready.
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down for ministry events and special projects.
  • Identify maintenance issues and proactively communicate solutions.
  • Keep workspaces, vehicles, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and operational.
  • Work alongside volunteers, staff, contractors, and community partners as needed.
  • Respond to urgent maintenance needs with flexibility when unexpected issues arise.
  • Support seasonal projects and property improvements as assigned.
  • Lead and instruct Serve Teams on projects.
  • Recruit donations from vendors.
  • Build relationships with business partners to support and invest in Grace Klein Community properties.
