Job summary

Metropolitan Transportation Authority's Long Island Rail Road is seeking an Assistant Project Manager in the Special Projects/ESA Department in New York, NY. You will support project managers, coordinate design and construction consultants, and help manage schedules, budgets, and compliance.

The role emphasizes cross-department collaboration, report preparation, and review of invoices and changes, with telework eligibility and a standard 8:00 AM–4:00 PM shift.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Business/Finance or related field, or 4 years of demonstrated, directly related, recent equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years experience in Project Management or Construction.
• Knowledge of construction industry including building, bridges, railroad facilities, civil, electrical, mechanical trades, signal, etc.

Responsibilities

• Support the PM/Senior PM in managing consultants, contractors, LIRR/Amtrak Force Account and developers to meet schedule and budget.
• Coordinate activities of Railroad departments, other MTA agencies, Amtrak and outside stakeholders to obtain approvals and ensure inspections are performed.
• Prepare reports, presentations, research, and schedules; manage budget/admin reports and transmittals.
• Review contract changes and invoices; participate in change order negotiations to ensure cost effectiveness.
• Assist in coordinating Operations, Engineering and 3rd party contractors for testing and commissioning.
