Job summary

The Axel Group, LLC is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join its Design-Build Division in New Jersey. You will assist with ground-up construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, coordinating RFIs, submittals, and schedules while partnering with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor's degree in construction management or civil engineering, 1–4 years of experience with general contractors or design-build firms, and proficiency

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 1–4 years of experience with a general contractor, construction manager, or design-build firm is desired.
  • Experience supporting commercial, industrial, warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics projects preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, scheduling, RFIs, submittals, and change management.
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, or similar construction management software.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a desire to continue growing within project management.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with the successful execution of multiple ground-up construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Coordinate RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and project documentation.
  • Track project schedules, budgets, procurement, and subcontractor progress.
  • Participate in project meetings with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Assist with contract administration, change orders, pay applications, and cost tracking.
  • Coordinate material procurement and delivery schedules.
  • Support quality control and ensure project documentation is maintained accurately.
  • Monitor project milestones and proactively identify potential issues before they impact schedule or budget.
  • Assist with project closeout, punch lists, turnover documentation, and warranty items.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and field teams.
