The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is seeking an experienced engineer to serve as the Assistant to the Project Engineer in Orleans Parish. The role includes supervising lower-level engineers or technicians and supporting construction project delivery, field engineering, and contractor coordination to meet DOTD standards.

Professional licensure is required, with options for substitution via advanced degrees.

Formación

• Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plus one of the following: two years of licensed engineering experience; or six years of professional engineering experience.
• A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of professional engineering experience.
• A doctorate degree in engineering will substitute for two years of professional engineering experience.
• Advanced degrees will substitute for a maximum of two years of professional engineering experience.
• There is no substitution for licensed engineering experience.

Responsabilidades

• Plans, directs, and coordinates construction inspection, contract administration, sampling, testing, surveying, and documentation activities for assigned construction projects.
• Supervises and trains engineers and engineering technicians assigned to construction projects, including day, night, or emergency operations as needed.
• Reviews and approves construction documentation, quantities, daily diaries, test reports, estimates, correspondence, and other project records.
• Coordinates with contractors, consultants, utility companies, public officials, and internal DOTD staff to resolve project issues and maintain progress.
• Reviews project schedules, plan changes, construction problems, erosion control plans, utility relocations, change orders, and contract compliance issues.
• Ensures construction work is performed in accordance with plans, specifications, special provisions, DOTD policies, and applicable federal and state requirements.
