Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks an experienced Engineer 6-DCL, Construction Coordinator, to oversee construction project delivery, field engineering, documentation, and contractor coordination in Lafayette Parish. The role requires licensure as a professional engineer and demonstrates the ability to review work in accordance with DOTD standards.

This position reports to the ADA Engineering and offers opportunities for career advancement.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current Louisiana professional engineering license.
• Two years of licensed engineering experience or six years of professional engineering experience required.
• Master's degree substitutes for one year of experience; Doctorate substitutes for two years.
• Advanced degrees can substitute a maximum of two years of experience.
• Licensing requirements must be met for eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Provides expert-level technical review of plans, specs, estimates, calculations, reports, and construction documents.
• Recommends engineering policies, standards, and design guidance for the assigned area.
• Provides technical assistance to DOTD leadership, districts, consultants, and contractors.
• Manages or coordinates complex engineering projects ensuring scope, schedule, budget and quality compliance.
• Reviews consultant contracts, scopes of work, and task orders.
• Provides guidance to junior engineers and project teams.
• Explores new technologies and methods to improve project delivery and safety.
