Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks an experienced Engineer as Assistant to the Project Engineer in East Feliciana Parish. This role supervises engineers/technicians and supports construction project delivery, field engineering, documentation, and contractor coordination.

Professional licensure as a engineer is required, with substitution rules noted for advanced degrees. Report to the Project Engineer at District 61.

Qualifications

• Licensed PE required to practice engineering in Louisiana.
• Minimum two years licensed engineering experience or six years of professional engineering experience.
• Advanced degrees may substitute for up to two years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, and coordinates construction inspection and contract administration for assigned projects.
• Supervises engineers and technicians on construction projects including shifts as needed.
• Reviews construction documentation, diaries, test reports, estimates, and records.
• Coordinates with contractors, utilities, officials, and DOTD staff to resolve issues.
• Ensures work complies with plans, specs, provisions, and regulations.
• Oversees schedules, changes, and contract compliance problems.
