Job summary

Christman Mid-Atlantic Constructors, LLC in the Washington, DC region is offering an Assistant Project Engineer Intern position for its Summer Internship Program. This role provides exposure to project teams and hands-on experience in building projects.

You will support RFIs, submittals, document control, cost tracking, scheduling and site inspections, while observing safety practices and assisting senior staff from select projects.

Qualifications

• Active, full-time Sophomore–Senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.

Responsibilities

• Provides administrative and technical support to the project team.
• Assists with RFIs, document control, submittals, cost tracking, and schedule updates.
• Summarizes discussions from project and owner meetings and prepares notes.
• Reads specifications to ensure compliance and project quality.
• Assists with inspection scheduling, log creation, and coordination with inspectors.

Christman Mid-Atlantic Constructors is looking for Assistant Project Engineer Interns for the upcoming Summer Internship Program in our Washington, DC region!

What You Will Do:

• As an Assistant Project Engineer Intern , primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but not limited to:
• Provides administrative and technical support to the project team.
• Assists with Request for Information (RFI), document control and management, creation and tracking of submittals, cost tracking, and schedule updated.
• Assist in summarizing important discussions, questions, and decisions raised during regular project team meetings, owner meetings, and weekly subcontractor meetings.
• Reads through and understands specification books to ensure compliance and project quality.
• Assist the Project Manager with identifying necessary inspections, create project-specific inspection log according to Christman standards, establish relationships with inspectors, schedule inspections, and ensure readiness for inspection.
• Assist in updating contract drawings to reflect all approved changes and ensure trade contractor document updates.
• Assist Superintendents with daily reports and manage all progress and quality photos.
• Model safety awareness and planning at all times while observing safety practices and report any concerns to the Project Superintendent or Project Manager.
• Supports the logistics process for all safety initiatives listed in the site-specific safety plan.

What You Will Bring to the Team:

Required experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:

• Active, full-time Sophomore-Senior level student pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA

Preferred experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:

• Previous work or internship experience in the commercial construction industry.
• Shows participation and/or leadership roles in student organizations or extracurricular club activities.

Pay: $23.00 per hour
