Job summary

Christman Mid-Atlantic Constructors, LLC is offering a Summer Internship for an Assistant Project Engineer in the Washington, DC region. Ideal candidates are full-time students in their sophomore to senior year pursuing civil engineering or construction management with a minimum 3.0 GPA, preferably with previous construction

Qualifications

  • Active, full-time Sophomore–Senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Preferred experience or internship in the commercial construction industry.
  • Demonstrates involvement in student organizations or extracurricular activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative and technical support to the project team.
  • Assists with RFI, document control and management, and tracking of submittals, cost, and schedule updates.
  • Summarizes important discussions and decisions from project meetings.
  • Reads specifications to ensure compliance and project quality.
  • Assists in identifying necessary inspections and maintains an inspection log.
  • Updates contract drawings reflecting approved changes and ensures document updates.

Our internship program provides undergraduate students opportunities to learn about different building types and delivery methods while gaining on-the-job experience in the various markets we build in.

Assistant Project Engineer Interns for the upcoming Summer Internship Program in our Washington, DC region!

What You Will Do
  • Provides administrative and technical support to the project team.
  • Assists with Request for Information (RFI), document control and management, creation and tracking of submittals, cost tracking, and schedule updated.
  • Assist in summarizing important discussions, questions, and decisions raised during regular project team meetings, owner meetings, and weekly subcontractor meetings.
  • Reads through and understands specification books to ensure compliance and project quality.
  • Assist the Project Manager with identifying necessary inspections, create project-specific inspection log according to Christman standards, establish relationships with inspectors, schedule inspections, and ensure readiness for inspection.
  • Assist in updating contract drawings to reflect all approved changes and ensure trade contractor document updates.
  • Assist Superintendents with daily reports and manage all progress and quality photos.
  • Model safety awareness and planning at all times while observing safety practices and report any concerns to the Project Superintendent or Project Manager.
  • Supports the logistics process for all safety initiatives listed in the site-specific safety plan.
What You Will Bring to the Team
  • Active, full-time Sophomore‑Senior level student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field. Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Preferred experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include: Previous work or internship experience in the commercial construction industry.
  • Shows participation and/or leadership roles in student organizations or extracurricular club activities.
Pay

Pay: $23.00 per hour
