Job summary

The Christman Company invites undergraduates to join its Summer Internship as an Assistant Project Engineer Intern in Greensboro, NC. You will gain hands-on experience across project planning and construction phases while supporting the project team.

Responsibilities include RFI handling, document control, submittal tracking, cost and schedule updates, and coordinating inspections while learning through practical on-site tasks and safety planning.

Qualifications

• Active, full-time Sophomore-Senior level student pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA

Responsibilities

• Provides administrative and technical support to the project team.
• Assists with RFIs, document control and management, creation and tracking of submittals, cost tracking, and schedule updates.
• Assist in summarizing important discussions, questions, and decisions raised during regular project team meetings, owner meetings, and weekly subcontractor meetings.
• Reads through and understands specification books to ensure compliance and project quality.
• Assist the Project Manager with identifying necessary inspections, create project-specific inspection log according to Christman standards, establish relationships with inspectors, schedule inspections, and ensure readiness for inspection.
• Assist in updating contract drawings to reflect all approved changes and ensure trade contractor document updates.
• Assist Superintendents with daily reports and manage all progress and quality photos.
• Model safety awareness and planning at all times while observing safety practices and report any concerns to the Project Superintendent or Project Manager.
• Supports the logistics process for all safety initiatives listed in the site-specific safety plan.

What You Will Bring to the Team:

Required experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:

• Active, full-time Sophomore-Senior level student pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA

Preferred experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:

• Previous work or internship experience in the commercial construction industry.
• Shows participation and/or leadership roles in student organizations or extracurricular club activities.
