Job summary

The Christman Company is seeking Assistant Project Engineer Interns for its Summer Internship Program. You will gain hands-on experience in project planning and construction while supporting the project team with administrative and technical tasks on-site.

Ideal candidates are full-time undergraduates pursuing civil engineering or construction management degrees with a minimum 3.0 GPA and prior internship exposure in commercial construction is a plus.

• Active, full-time student pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field
• Minimum 3.0 GPA

Responsibilities

• Provides administrative and technical support to the project team.
• Assists with RFI, document control and management, submittals, cost tracking, and schedule updates.
• Assist in summarizing discussions and decisions from project meetings.
• Reads specifications to ensure compliance and quality.
• Assist in updating contract drawings reflecting approved changes and ensuring updates by trade contractors.
• Assist Superintendents with daily reports and progress/quality photos.
• Model safety awareness and follow site safety plan.
• Support logistics for safety initiatives on site.

Education

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field

The Christman Company is looking for Assistant Project Engineer Interns for the upcoming Summer Internship Program! As a valued member of our operations team, you will have opportunities to gain hands-on experience during either project planning and/or construction phases.

What You Will Do:

• Provides administrative and technical support to the project team.
• Assists with Request for Information (RFI), document control and management, creation and tracking of submittals, cost tracking, and schedule updated.
• Assist in summarizing important discussions, questions, and decisions raised during regular project team meetings, owner meetings, and weekly subcontractor meetings.
• Reads through and understands specification books to ensure compliance and project quality.
• Assist the Project Manager with identifying necessary inspections, create project-specific inspection log according to Christman standards, establish relationships with inspectors, schedule inspections, and ensure readiness for inspection.
• Assist in updating contract drawings to reflect all approved changes and ensure trade contractor document updates.
• Assist Superintendents with daily reports and manage all progress and quality photos.
• Model safety awareness and planning at all times while observing safety practices and report any concerns to the Project Superintendent or Project Manager.
• Supports the logistics process for all safety initiatives listed in the site-specific safety plan.

What You Will Bring to the Team:

Required experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:

• Active, full-time Sophomore-Senior level student pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA

Preferred experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:

• Previous work or internship experience in the commercial construction industry.
• Shows participation and/or leadership roles in student organizations or extracurricular club activities.
