Job summary

The Christman Company is offering an internship for Assistant Project Engineer Interns in Raleigh, NC. You will gain hands-on experience across planning and construction phases while supporting the project team with administrative and technical tasks.

Active sophomores to seniors pursuing civil engineering or construction management are invited, with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Prior construction exposure is a plus, and a safety-conscious mindset is expected.

Responsibilities

• Provides administrative and technical support to the project team.
• Assists with RFI, document control and management, submittals creation/tracking, cost tracking, and schedule updates.
• Summarizes important discussions and decisions from project meetings and owner/subcontractor meetings.
• Reads specifications to ensure compliance and project quality.
• Assist in identifying inspections, create inspection logs, schedule inspections, and coordinate with inspectors.
• Update contract drawings to reflect approved changes and surface trade contractor document updates.
• Assist Superintendents with daily reports and manage progress/quality photos.
• Model safety awareness and report safety concerns to supervisors.
• Support logistics for safety initiatives noted in the site safety plan.

The Christman Company is looking for Assistant Project Engineer Interns for the upcoming Summer Internship Program! As a valued member of our operations team, you will have opportunities to gain hands-on experience during either project planning and/or construction phases.

What You Will Do:

• Provides administrative and technical support to the project team.
• Assists with Request for Information (RFI), document control and management, creation and tracking of submittals, cost tracking, and schedule updated.
• Assist in summarizing important discussions, questions, and decisions raised during regular project team meetings, owner meetings, and weekly subcontractor meetings.
• Reads through and understands specification books to ensure compliance and project quality.
• Assist the Project Manager with identifying necessary inspections, create project-specific inspection log according to Christman standards, establish relationships with inspectors, schedule inspections, and ensure readiness for inspection.
• Assist in updating contract drawings to reflect all approved changes and ensure trade contractor document updates.
• Assist Superintendents with daily reports and manage all progress and quality photos.
• Model safety awareness and planning at all times while observing safety practices and report any concerns to the Project Superintendent or Project Manager.
• Supports the logistics process for all safety initiatives listed in the site-specific safety plan.

What You Will Bring to the Team:

Required experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:

• Active, full-time Sophomore-Senior level student pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA

Preferred experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:

• Previous work or internship experience in the commercial construction industry.
• Shows participation and/or leadership roles in student organizations or extracurricular club activities.
