Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Program Director, oversees program functions and operations for multiple programs supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) within the assigned region. This includes direct supervision of Program Supervisors and indirect supervision of direct support and other program staff (e.g., Assistant Supervisors, DSPs, etc.), or direct supervision of programs in the absence of a supervisor. The Assistant Program Director is responsible for all aspects of the assigned programs and interfaces with Program Supervisors, regulatory agencies (e.g., OPWDD, DDD), Quality, Compliance, Training, and other support departments to promote community integration, inclusion, and ensure the health, wellness, safety, and needs of the individuals supported.

Ensure that the training provided and work performed by the program staff meet Federal, State, Local, and agency compliance and regulatory standards. The Assistant Program Director is involved in the growth and development of the assigned program staff and provides feedback for performance evaluations. Serve as an administrative resource for assigned Program Supervisors, providing guidance, resources, and additional training as necessary. Develop and maintain working relationships with families, service providers, regulatory agencies, and community members.

Key/Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and ensures compliance with regulations and best practices for multiple program teams, which may include a Program Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor, and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) or other direct care staff.
  • Provides effective leadership in each program, collaborating with the director, regional leadership, and/or clinical team to ensure implementation of person-centered, individualized plans.
  • Ensures program staff assist individuals in maximizing their strengths, interests, and abilities while upholding their personal rights and supporting personal goals.
  • Performs the role of Program Supervisor in the absence of one, including program oversight, staff training, regulatory adherence, managing budgets, and liaising with families.
  • Ensures each Program Supervisor maintains compliance with state regulations, oversees clinical programming, and fosters quality assurance.
  • In collaboration with the Program Supervisor, ensures staff provide appropriate supervision to ensure health and safety.
  • Meets regularly with Program Supervisors and maintains documentation of meetings.
  • Assesses work performance and ensures quality service through supervision and observation of staff.
  • Reviews and ensures timely submission of incident reports and other required reports for compliance.
  • Reviews and supports maintenance of personal ledgers for individuals supported.
  • Reviews data collection and provides training to ensure accurate billing.
  • Ensures completion and maintenance of all documentation related to individual treatment.
  • Monitors finances and budgets, reviewing expenses and conducting reconciliations.
  • Ensures facilities are safe and meet safety standards and regulations.
  • Evaluates program needs, identifies unmet needs, and proposes solutions.
  • Participates in meetings and case conferences to ensure quality care.
  • Assists in resolving concerns related to programs, staff, families, and community members.
  • Stays informed of applicable regulations and participates in relevant committees and seminars.
  • Makes decisions in accordance with policies to ensure appropriate treatment and services.
  • Ensures staff compliance with all regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Serves as Administrator-on-Call as needed and provides program coverage.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualification Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, or related field, or equivalent experience and training.
    • Five (5) years of experience working with individuals with I/DD, including experience in service delivery and three (3) years in a supervisory role.
    • Willingness and ability to travel across the region and to programs as required.
    • Ability to respond to calls and needs beyond regular hours.
    • Extensive knowledge of developmental disabilities and related regulations.
    • Exceptional communication and leadership skills.
    • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Ability to work under stress and handle crises.

    Additional Minimum Requirements by State:

    State of New Jersey:

    • Meet federal requirements for a QIDP, including at least 1 year of direct experience with persons with disabilities.
    • Be one of the following: a doctor, registered nurse, or hold at least a bachelor's in a human services field.
    • Must be at least 18 years old, obtain RBT certification within one year, and hold a valid driver’s license.

    Preferred Qualification Requirements:

    • Master’s Degree in related fields.

    Compensation: $70,000-$75,000 annually
