Job summary

Florida Polytechnic University invites applications for a tenure-equivalent Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering, beginning August 2027. The department is expanding the structures focus and will launch a new Minor in Structural Engineering with graduate courses behind it.

You will shape the structures curriculum from day one, set up experimental work, and build a research program with undergraduate and graduate students, while mentoring and serving

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or closely related field, completed before start date.
• Strong knowledge of the analysis, design, and behavior of reinforced concrete structures.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate reinforced concrete design and related courses such as Statics, Dynamics, Strength of Materials, and first-year engineering.
• Develop and teach upper-level electives and graduate courses for the structural engineering minor and potential graduate certificate.
• Develop, conduct, and supervise laboratory experiments for structural engineering courses and research.
• Build an active research program involving undergraduate and graduate students.
• Mentor students and contribute to department and University service.
