Job Summary

The Department of Social Sciences at the University of Texas atTyler is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor of PublicAdministration to teach in the online Masters of PublicAdministration program to begin August 16, 2027. Duties includeteaching a 3/3 course-load, active scholarship agenda, and serviceto the university and local community.

The Department of Social Sciences incorporates Anthropology,Criminal Justice, Economics, Geography, Social Work, Sociology andPublic Administration. In addition to the Masters of PublicAdministration, the Department has a Criminal Justice Master ofScience degree.

Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks
  • Development and implementation ofgraduate courses in public administration.
  • Responsible for recruiting and retaining graduatestudents.
  • Faculty members at UT Tyler are expected to be outstandingteachers and scholars and able to demonstrate a commitment toservice to the community and university. Additional expectationsinclude academic advising, academic programming and assessment,service to the university, and continued professionaldevelopment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement Systemof Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours perweek and at least 135 days in length. This position has the optionto elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS,subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135days in length.
