Job Summary

The Department of Human Resource Development in the Soules Collegeof Business at The University of Texas at Tyler invitesapplications for a tenure-track or tenured Assistant or AssociateProfessor of Human Resource Development. The successful candidatewill be a scholar and doctoral mentor who can contributeimmediately to the department's growing PhD program throughdissertation supervision, doctoral teaching, research, and programleadership.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment toteaching excellence across undergraduate, graduate, and doctoraleducation. Responsibilities will include chairing and serving ondoctoral dissertation committees, mentoring doctoral studentsthrough degree completion, contributing to existing and developingdoctoral specializations, maintaining an active program ofscholarship, and participating in departmental, college,university, and professional service.

Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated recordof teaching effectiveness and innovation, successful doctoralmentoring, scholarly productivity appropriate for appointment atthe Assistant or Associate level, and experience contributing tothe leadership and development of doctoral programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in HRD,with particular emphasis on talent and organizationdevelopment.
  • Chair and serve on doctoral dissertation committees andsupervise dissertation research.
  • Maintain an active research agenda in HRD or a closely relatedfield that results in publications in high-quality refereedjournals.
  • Develop or maintain a record of external funding.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships withprofessionals in public and private sector organizations.
  • Contribute to relevant professional organizations.
  • Serve on department, college, and university committees
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students
  • Maintain regular on-campus presence.
  • Attend departmental meetings.
Required Qualifications
  • An earned doctorate in HRD or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated record of scholarly productivity appropriate forappointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.
  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness in undergraduate and/orgraduate education.
  • Experience advising undergraduate and graduate students andsupervising doctoral dissertation research.
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience inbusiness, industry, government, or a nonprofit organization as apractitioner in HRD or as an internal or external performanceconsultant.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching and supervising students preparing forcareers in Human Resource Development, including preparation forrelevant industry certification examinations such as the APTD,CPLP, CPT, CFT, and CDT.
  • Membership in the Academy of Human Resource Development(AHRD).
  • Excellent communication and teaching skills.
  • Experience delivering online instruction.
  • Knowledge of research methodologies and advancedstatistics.
  • Record of leadership within relevant professional agencies andorganizations.
  • Record of effective leadership in higher education.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement Systemof Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours perweek and at least 135 days in length. This position has the optionto elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS,subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135days in length.
