Job summary

Xavier University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of Instruction in Human Development/Educational Foundations, starting Fall 2027. The role teaches foundational coursework across licensure programs and provides advising, as well as service to support state and national accreditation.

The candidate will maintain student records, contribute to field coordination with the Field Coordinator, and assist in enrollment efforts.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Education or closely related field.
  • Valid professional educator license; ability to be licensed in Ohio within the first year.
  • Minimum 5 years of K-12 teaching experience while holding a license.
  • Excellent organizational, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a range of undergraduate and graduate core courses across licensure programs.
  • Advise students on course sequencing and degree requirements.
  • Maintain student records and data to support program accreditation.
  • Assist with enrollment efforts and recruiting as needed.

Assistant Professor of Instruction, Human Development/EducationalFoundations

The School of Education at Xavier University invites applicationsfor a full-time, non-tenure-track Assistant Professor ofInstruction specializing in Human Development and EducationalFoundations, beginning Fall 2027. This position will teachfoundational coursework required across every School of Educationlicensure program, undergraduate and graduate, including coursessuch as Introduction to Education, Human Development, and theStudent Teaching Seminar. The position also provides service withinthe School of Education, including academic advising, oversight ofthe student disposition process in collaboration with the FieldCoordinator, and support for state and national accreditation. Thisposition reports to School of Education leadership. Visasponsorship is not available for this position.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses thatserve as core requirements across the School of Education'slicensure and Master’s of Education programs (Elementary,Secondary, Special Education, Montessori Education, EducationalAdministration, Reading, and TESOL).
  • Advise students across multiple programs regarding coursesequencing and requirements.
  • Maintain student records and data, ensuring students aremeeting foundational course requirements, and support state andnational accreditation.
  • Assist with enrollment and recruitment efforts as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • A Doctorate in Education or a closely related field.
  • A valid professional educator license, and the ability to belicensed in Ohio within the first year of employment.
  • Minimum 5 years’ related K-12 teaching experience while holdinga professional educator license.
  • Excellent organizational, oral, written, and interpersonalcommunication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team withinand among School of Education programs.
  • An understanding of and commitment to Xavier University’sJesuit Catholic mission and identity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Collegiate teaching experience across multiple programs inhuman development, educational foundations, or closely relatedcoursework.
  • Experience with online or hybrid course delivery.
  • Multiple credentials or licensures (TESOL, Special Education,etc.)
Teaching Load, Non-Tenure-Track:

The teaching expectation is 24 credit hours annually for thisnon-tenure-track faculty position.
