Job summary

Xavier University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Mathematics Education beginning Fall 2027. The position teaches mathematics education courses across undergraduate and graduate levels and supports licensure programs.

We seek a scholar with a doctorate in mathematics education and a strong record in research, teaching, and service. The 18-credit teaching load aligns with the university's Jesuit mission and dedication to student success.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Mathematics Education, Curriculum and Instruction with specialization in Mathematics, STEM Education with specialization in Mathematics, or a closely related field.
  • Valid professional educator license, and ability to be licensed in Ohio within the first year of employment.
  • Minimum 5 years’ related K-12 teaching experience while holding a professional educator license.
  • Evidence of, or strong potential for, scholarly research and publication in mathematics education.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team within the School of Education.
  • Understanding of Xavier University’s Jesuit Catholic mission and identity.

Responsibilities

Assistant Professor, Mathematics Education

The School of Education at Xavier University invites applicationsfor a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing inMathematics Education, beginning Fall 2027. This position willteach mathematics education coursework serving our Primary,Secondary, and Special Education licensure programs at theundergraduate and graduate levels and will pursue an activeresearch and scholarship agenda consistent with tenure-trackexpectations.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction for a variety of mathematics education andteacher preparation courses, including elementary and secondarymath methods courses.
  • Maintain an active program of scholarly research andprofessional activity in mathematics education, consistent withtenure-track expectations.
  • Advise and mentor students pursuing licensure and degreeprograms.
  • Collaborate with the Program Directors and Field Coordinatorregarding field experiences related to mathematicsinstruction.
  • Maintain student records and data, ensuring students aremeeting program and licensure requirements, and support state andnational accreditation.

Teaching Load, Tenure-Track:

The teaching expectation is 18 credit hours annually for thistenure-track faculty position when a faculty member meets theCollege's active scholarship standards
