Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Ed.D. in English, Rhetoric and Composition (or related field) by August 2027 from a regionally accredited institution.
• Demonstrated record of teaching, service, and scholarship in Rhetoric and Composition, interdisciplinary writing, and emerging technologies.
• Evidence of university-wide and professional networking
• Ability to analyze and employ various communication and teaching technologies.
• Ability to communicate clearly with students, staff and colleagues, both orally and in writing.
• An eagerness to engage with faculty, staff and administrators to develop ways to improve the educational experience of students.

Responsibilities

• Teach 24 semester hours in lower division, upper division, and graduate-level English courses—including traditional composition, corequisite composition, and developmental reading and writing as needed by the department.
• Teach lower division and upper division courses in Rhetoric and Composition.
• Lead department efforts in fostering interdisciplinary relationships across campus and developing interdisciplinary curriculum for composition courses with a focus on emerging technologies.
• Engage in scholarship relevant to the position at a level appropriate to a teaching university (both scholarship of discovery and scholarship of pedagogy are valued at UT).
• Assist in curriculum creation in Rhetoric and Composition.
• Serve on departmental, college, and university committees as assigned and attend departmental, college, and university meetings as required.
• Work with the department chair, the dean, and other faculty to advance the university’s mission, including:
• - Work constructively, collaboratively, and collegially with faculty and staff in the department and across campus.
• - Conduct student assessment.
• - Hold regular office hours.
• - Mentor part-time instructors.
• - Perform service for the college and university.
• - Participate in university and departmental student recruitment and retention initiatives.
• - Facilitate service learning and engagement with the community.
• - Perform other duties as assigned.
