Position Announcement

The Department of English at Utah Tech University (UT) in St.George, Utah invites applications for a full-time, Instructor ofthe Practice (professional track) position in English beginningfall semester 2027. At UT, Instructors of the Practice areconsidered Master Teachers. Instructors of the Practice are hiredas expert instructors with no scholarship expectations and nominalservice expectations. Professional track faculty are not on thetenure track, but these positions are continuing positions withrank advancement opportunities. Instructors of the Practice teach a30-credit load, which typically is a 5-5 load. Any summer teachingor overload teaching during the fall or spring semesters isadditional work for additional compensation.

Utah Tech is an open-enrollment institution, and the Englishdepartment provides the university with traditional GeneralEducation composition courses as well as corequisite anddevelopmental reading and writing courses designed to help at-riskstudents succeed. Responsibilities

• Teach 30 credits of lower-division lecture courses eachacademic year, primarily in Composition. Opportunities forcurriculum development are also available.

Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Full-time(9-month) professional-track faculty position. Faculty service withpay and benefits start July 1, 2027. Annual salary of $49,000depending on qualifications and experience, with additionalcompensation available for optional summer/overload teaching.
