Job summary

University of North Carolina at Pembroke seeks a Nursing faculty member with a doctoral degree to teach across undergraduate and graduate programs and contribute to curriculum design and governance. Responsibilities include classroom and clinical instruction, student advisement, and service within the School of Nursing.

Qualified candidates will have NC RN licensure eligibility, substantial experience in nurse education, and a proven research record.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in nursing required.
  • Current unrestricted RN license in North Carolina or eligibility for licensure before employment.
  • Minimum of two to five years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Minimum of three to four years of experience as a nurse educator.
  • Ability to meet North Carolina Board of Nursing requirements for faculty teaching.
  • Experience in higher education teaching, curriculum development, and student advisement.
  • Demonstrated potential for research, scholarship, and external funding applications.
  • A strong record of research and scholarly publications.
  • A strong record in statistical analysis with a minimum of two years’ experience.

Job Description

Areas of potential teaching include undergraduate programs; teaching in graduate programs; and other assignments as determined by the chair of the School of Nursing. Responsibilities include assisting the nursing faculty team in curriculum design, providing classroom and clinical instruction to students, advising undergraduate and graduate students, and participating in School of Nursing governance activities. Salary and rank are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Candidates should have academic experience appropriate for rank and a minimum of two years of clinical experience. All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Training and Experience
  • Doctoral degree in nursing.
  • Current unrestricted RN license in North Carolina (or eligibility for licensure before employment).
  • Minimum of two (5) years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Minimum of three (4) years of experience as a nurse educator.
  • Ability to meet North Carolina Board of Nursing requirements for faculty teaching in a nursing program.
  • Experience in higher education teaching, curriculum development, and student advisement.
  • Demonstrated potential for research, scholarship, and external funding applications.
  • A strong record of research and scholarly publications.
  • A strong record in statistical analysis with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience
Management Preference
  • Experience with accreditation processes and reporting, including familiarity with Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) standards and North Carolina Board of Nursing requirements
  • Evidence of sustained scholarly productivity, including peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and/or grant activity
  • Experience in curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous quality improvement aligned with accreditation standards
  • Experience with faculty mentorship and development, including support for teaching effectiveness, scholarship
  • Experience with student admissions, progression, retention, and student success initiatives in nursing education
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain partnerships with healthcare agencies and community stakeholders
  • Experience with online or hybrid program delivery and familiarity with state authorization requirements or distance education compliance
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
