Assistant Professor, Business & Management

Salary Range: $40,581 - $59,325(Based on level of degree and experience.Salary may be enhanced by supplemental teaching.)

Job Description:

Northwest Florida State College is seeking a full-time, nine-month Assistant Professor of Business and Management to join the Business, Hospitality & Management Department. The successful candidate will provide high-quality instruction across multiple levels of the College's curriculum, including upper-division courses within bachelor's degree programs, lower-division courses within Associate of Science degree programs, and lower-division business courses supporting Associate of Arts students and university transfer pathways.

The position requires a faculty member with broad academic preparation in business and management who can teach across multiple disciplines and instructional modalities. In addition to teaching, the faculty member will contribute to curriculum development, student learning assessment, student success initiatives, departmental activities, and institutional service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Fulfill contractual obligations for a full instructional load during the fall and spring semesters, normally consisting of 15 credit hours per semester, including 15 hours of course instruction at the various Campus and Centers, 10 office hours at the Niceville Campus and 9 Other Professional Activities per week.
• Teach upper-division Business and Management courses within the College's bachelor's degree programs.
• Teach lower-division Business and Management courses within Associate of Science degree programs that prepare students for employment, career advancement, and continued education.
• Teach business courses supporting Associate of Arts students, including courses that fulfill general education, technical elective, prerequisite, and university transfer requirements.
• Teach courses that may include Management, Organizational Behavior, Business Ethics, Personal Finance, Macroeconomics, Supervision, Customer Relations, Small Business Management, and other Business and Management courses based on departmental needs and the faculty member’s academic qualifications.
• Provide instruction through multiple delivery formats, including traditional in-person, hybrid, online, and synchronous online instruction.
• Develop and deliver engaging, relevant, and academically rigorous instruction that connects business theory with practical application.
• Maintain current course materials, learning activities, assessments, and instructional resources consistent with approved course objectives and Student Learning Outcomes.
• Participate in the development, review, and continuous improvement of Business and Management curriculum, courses, programs, and academic pathways.
• Participate in the assessment of course and program Student Learning Outcomes and use assessment results to support continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with faculty, department leadership, academic advising, and other College personnel to support student retention, progression, completion, and academic success.
• Provide appropriate academic guidance, mentoring, and support to students and maintain required office hours and student availability.
• Participate in departmental faculty meetings, curriculum discussions, program reviews, advisory committee activities, recruiting events, and other departmental initiatives.
• Support relationships with regional employers, industry professionals, community organizations, and educational partners to help maintain curriculum relevance and strengthen student career opportunities.
• Participate in College committees, institutional service, professional development, and other activities appropriate to a full-time faculty appointment.
• Maintain currency within the Business and Management disciplines through professional development, continuing education, industry engagement, research, professional organizations, or other appropriate activities.
• Maintain accurate instructional and student records and comply with College policies, procedures, academic standards, and applicable state and federal requirements.
• Complete annual mandatory compliance and risk-management training.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Business, Hospitality & Management, Dean of Workforce Education, and/or Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in Business Administration, Management, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or a closely related business discipline from a regionally accredited postsecondary institution; or
• Master's degree in another field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credit hours in the discipline or combination of business disciplines appropriate to the courses assigned.
• Demonstrated commitment to student learning and student success.
• Evidence of continued professional growth through professional development, continuing education, industry experience, professional organizations, or related activities.
• Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and organizational communication skills.
• Ability to effectively use instructional technology and technology commonly used in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications

• Earned doctorate in Business Administration, Management, or a closely related business discipline from a regionally accredited postsecondary institution.
• Graduate-level academic preparation that qualifies the candidate to teach across multiple Business and Management disciplines.
• Postsecondary teaching experience at either the both lower-division and upper-division undergraduate levels.
• Demonstrated success teaching online, hybrid, and in-person courses.
• Experience using Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) to develop, deliver, and manage course content, assessments, grades, student communication, and other instructional activities.
• Professional or industry experience in business, management, finance, economics, entrepreneurship, human resources, project management, or a related field.
• Experience developing or assessing curriculum and Student Learning Outcomes.

All degrees must be from a regionally-accredited postsecondary institution. This full-time 9-month position is eligible for continuing contract status and is contingent upon board approval and funding.
