Job summary

RRD Company in Durham, NC is seeking an Assistant Press Operator to support make-ready, operation, and maintenance of sheet-fed or web offset presses. You will help set up plates, blankets, and packing sheets to required heights, and assist in colour corrections before production runs.

The role requires reading job specs, following instructions, and performing routine maintenance with hand and power tools. A high school diploma or GED is required, with at least 2 years of offset press experience

Qualifications

Ability to read and follow job specifications to determine setup materials.
Ability to operate equipment safely and produce the desired product.
Ability to use a micrometer to mount and align printing plates correctly.
Ability to adjust feeders and guides to meet production requirements.
Basic routine maintenance and minor repairs under supervision.

Responsibilities

Assist Press Operators with press make-ready, operation, and maintenance.
Insert packing sheets and install plates/blankets to achieve required printing height.
Adjust press parts such as feeder, delivery mechanisms, and guides as needed.
Assist in changing worn rollers and adjusting pressure between rollers.
Wash blankets, clean ink dispersal rollers, and support color/register corrections.
