Job summary

Hire Consulting Services is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for heavy civil highway and utility projects across Virginia. The role supports a senior PM on roadway and VDOT work, with relocation assistance for the right candidate.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in heavy civil, with DOT exposure, scheduling and cost-tracking skills, a civil engineering or construction management degree, and a valid driver's license. Based in VA or willing to relocate.

Qualifications

• 3+ years on heavy civil, highway or utility projects.
• VDOT or other DOT experience strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of scheduling and cost tracking.
• Based in Virginia or willing to relocate; relocation assistance available.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Drive submittals, RFIs and procurement to keep field crews ahead of work.
• Coordinate subcontractors and supplier purchase orders.
• Track quantities, production and cost against budget.
• Prepare monthly pay applications and cost projections.
• Support schedule updates and change management.
• Work with VDOT inspectors and owner representatives.
• Maintain project documentation and participate in weekly reviews.
• Support a strong jobsite safety culture.
