Assistant Patient Access Representative - Pediatric Dentistry - School of Dentistry

Join us at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston) as an Assistant Patient Access Representative in the Pediatrics department. You will be responsible for working with patients to obtain demographic, insurance, and financial information, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and more. The ideal candidate has experience in customer service, handling inbound/outbound calls, insurance verification, and claim submission. Bilingual (Spanish) skills are preferred.

Location: 7500 Cambridge, Houston, TX 77030

Position Summary: Assist in ensuring dental necessity compliance, verifying eligibility, and posting payments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain demographic, insurance, and financial information from patients or guarantors.
  • Accurately enter data into the system.
  • Explain forms and obtain signatures.
  • Ensure compliance and communicate necessary information to patients.
  • Collect patient liabilities, discuss payment options, and verify insurance benefits.
  • Complete financial counseling and charity applications.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits within required timeframes.
  • Post payments and generate receipts.
  • Communicate professionally with staff, patients, and insurance companies.
  • Maintain thorough documentation and adhere to policies.
  • Support professional growth, serve as a mentor, and perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Ability to multi-task
  • Proficient typing and keyboarding skills

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Minimum Experience: None required

Physical Requirements: Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently.

Residency: Must reside and work in Texas.
