Job summary

The City of Indianapolis Parks Department seeks a Head Lifeguard to lead aquatic operations at an assigned park location. You will oversee staff, ensure safety, manage cash handling, and maintain water quality while delivering positive guest experiences.

Responsibilities include supervising lifeguards, opening/closing the facility, and coordinating with park leadership. Holidays, weekends, and evenings are required; travel to multiple locations may be needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year prior related experience in aquatic operations.
• Thorough knowledge of pool and water chemistry and operations, including testing and chemical handling.
• Licenses/certifications: Lifeguard, WSI, CPR/First Aid, AFO or CPO certification.
• Respiratory physical and fit test for chemical mask required.
• Experience in training and supervising employees.

Responsibilities

• Supervise programs, services, facilities, and personnel at aquatic facility.
• Assume responsibility in the absence of the Pool Manager.
• Maintain highest safety standards for participants and staff.
• Handle admissions revenue, daily cash reports, deposits, and related forms.
• Ensure proper lifeguard supervision, rotations, and water quality.
• Open/close facility and coordinate with public and staff.
