Job summary

Hayward Lumber in Redwood City, CA seeks an Assistant Operations Manager to lead daily operations alongside the Operations Manager, ensuring safe, efficient processes, proper resource allocation, and high customer service standards in a busy lumber and building materials environment.

You will supervise staff, manage inventory with BisTrack, coordinate fleet and facility maintenance, and drive continuous improvement across operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
• 3–5 years of experience in operations or logistics management, preferably in the lumber or building materials industry.
• Supervisory experience with multi-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Implement operational strategies, policies, and procedures with the Operations Manager.
• Plan and coordinate daily operations to meet production, inventory, and staffing needs.
• Develop staff performance through training, coaching, and scheduling.
• Coordinate staffing, approve time off, and create schedules for yard and retail personnel.
