Job summary

Hayward Lumber is seeking a Retail Store Manager to oversee daily operations at our Redwood City store. You will hire, train, and schedule staff while driving sales and maintaining inventory levels.

You will handle customer inquiries and ensure excellent service, while upholding company policies and safety standards. The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of lumber/retail experience, strong leadership, and the ability to motivate a team to meet objectives.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years' experience in lumber & building supplies retail
• Strong people management and team building skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers
• Ability to motivate team members to increase productivity
• Knowledge of current employee labor law (meals & breaks)
• Experience in retail environment, merchandising, inventory control, material handling and delivery
• Well organized and able to multi-task and prioritize
• Must pass drug test and consent to background check

Responsibilities

• Ensure efficient daily operation of retail store departments and services
• Achieve financial and performance results based on internal metrics
• Schedule staff to cover hours while meeting payroll vs. sales targets
• Maintain high quality counter-sales staff for best customer service
