The role emphasizes leadership, staffing, and adherence to evidence-based practice within a complex teaching hospital environment. Connecticut RN licensure and BSN are required, with BLS and arrhythmia certification expected before hire.

Qualifications

• Current Connecticut RN License.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN required).
• BLS certification by the American Heart Association and proof of Arrhythmia Certification required prior to date of hire.
• Prior leadership experience and/or unit committee work highly preferred.
• Specialty certification highly preferred.
• Strong communications skills required - both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Assist Nurse Manager in supervising a work group to deliver high quality, cost-effective care.
• Schedule and assign work, resolve processing problems, collect data to monitor progress, and balance workloads.
• Strive to improve quality and productivity by identifying improvement opportunities and implementing changes.
• Align departmental goals with the hospital's strategic direction and performance expectations.
