Job summary

HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL seeks an experienced RN in a leadership role for NICU with a focus on patient care, workflow development, and departmental protocols. The position blends clinical leadership with administrative duties, including supervising staff and coordinating care with the broader team.

Required RN licensure and an acute-care background; BSN preferred. Two 12-hour charge nurse shifts and two administrative days are offered, with a 40-hour workweek and competitive

  • BSN preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years as staff nurse in an acute setting; 2 years in charge/lead nurse roles preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care and supervise unit staff.
  • Develop workflows for the department and prepare operational reports.
  • Implement unit protocols and support care team physicians.
  • Collaborate with care teams to ensure excellence in patient care.
  • Oversee scheduling and administrative duties for the unit.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $41.58 - $62.37 A successful candidate's actual pay rate will be based on several factors including relevant experience, skills, training, certifications and education.

  • Schedule: Dayshift; Two 12 hour shifts as charge nurse in unit; Two 8 hour administrative days with flexible shifts

Education Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited and approved school of nursing accepted for licensure in the state of practice is required.
  • Bachelor’s of science in nursing is preferred.
Experience Qualifications
  • 2 years staff nurse (RN) in an acute setting is required.
  • 2 years experience in a charge nurse, lead nurse, or related position is preferred.
Certifications, Licenses and Registrations
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in state of practice is required.
  • Wisconsin: RNs may practice with a valid multi-state RN license as outlined in the Nurse Licensure Compact rules.
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • BLS is required.
  • ACLS may be required where necessary.
