HSHS Medical Group is actively seeking an Assistant Manager‑Nursing for the NICU at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. The role emphasizes leadership in patient care, staff supervision, and unit operations during day shifts with a mix of charge nurse duties and administrative days.

The successful candidate will have RN licensure, BLS, ACLS as needed, and a BSN is preferred. Two years of staff nurse experience with charge nurse exposure is expected, supporting a patient‑centered care

Pay Range: $41.58 - $62.37. A successful candidate’s actual pay rate will be based on several factors including relevant experience, skills, training, certifications and education.

Under the direction of Nursing leadership, the Assistant Manager‑Nursing assists in the oversight of functional area(s) of the unit and/or department including patient care; hiring; transferring; performance improvement; assigning duties; and rewards. The role involves developing general workflows for department/unit and preparing timely operational reports, developing and administering proper protocols for department and/or unit, assisting in direct supervision of unit and staff, championing patient care, and collaborating with other care team providers to assure excellence in patient care.

Position Specifics

Department: NICU. Core Function: Leadership. Schedule: Dayshift; two 12 hour shifts as charge nurse in unit; two 8 hour administrative days with flexible shifts. Facility: St. John’s Hospital. Location: Springfield, IL. Compensation: Compensation that aligns with your experience.

Education Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited and approved school of nursing accepted for licensure in the state of practice is required. Bachelor’s of science in nursing is preferred.

Experience Qualifications

2 years staff nurse (RN) in an acute setting is required. 2 years experience in a charge nurse, lead nurse, or related position is preferred.

Certifications, Licenses and Registrations

Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in state of practice is required. Wisconsin: RNs may practice with a valid multi‑state RN license as outlined in the Nurse Licensure Compact rules. Basic Life Support (BLS) is required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required where necessary.
