Job summary

Ascension in Sparta, TN is seeking a Full-time Day nurse leader to oversee ED, Med-Surg, Behavioral Health, and Surgical Services. The role focuses on regulatory alignment, staffing, and efficient patient flow in a high-acuity environment.

The position requires TN RN licensure and at least 1 year of job-specific experience, with a leadership mindset to drive quality and safety initiatives within a Catholic health system.

Qualifications

  • Licensure/Certification / Registration: BLS required; RN credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing.
  • Education: RN licensure (TN) and 1 year of cumulative job-specific experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance & Staff Administration: Collaborate with leadership to align schedules and workflows with JC and CMS standards, drive hiring and evaluations.
  • ED Operations: Direct triage, oversee rapid trauma resuscitations, optimize patient flow in high-acuity settings.
  • Med-Surg Leadership: Supervise post-operative and chronic care delivery, manage unit scheduling and daily patient assignments.
  • Behavioral Health Oversight: Ensure safe milieu, implement de-escalation and safety initiatives.
  • Surgical Services Management: Coordinate pre-op, intra-op, and post-anesthesia workflows, ensure sterile processing controls.

How you'll make an impact in this role


  • Regulatory Compliance & Staff Administration: Partner with executive leadership to build schedule models and clinical workflows that align with Joint Commission (JC) standards and CMS Conditions of Participation, while driving staff hiring, training, and evaluations.

  • Emergency Department (ED) Operations: Direct immediate triage protocols, oversee rapid trauma resuscitations, and coordinate swift patient flow and access needs in high-acuity crisis environments.

  • Med-Surg Unit Leadership & Staffing: Supervise post-operative and chronic care delivery across high-volume units, managing unit scheduling and delegating daily patient assignments based on staff skill levels and clinical proficiencies.

  • Behavioral Health Oversight: Ensure a safe, therapeutic milieu by leading de-escalation strategies, enforcing psychiatric care standards, and driving continuous quality initiatives and safety audits.

  • Surgical Services Management: Coordinate pre-op, intra-op, and post-anesthesia workflows, ensuring strict adherence to updated clinical guidelines and sterile process controls.


What Minimum Requirements You'll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:



  • BLS Provider obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted required.

  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.


Education


  • Required professional licensure/certification AND 1 year of cumulative job specific experience required.
