Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking an experienced Assistant MEP Project Manager to coordinate Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing scopes from bid through client acceptance. You will lead project teams, manage budgets, and ensure timely, safe completion while mentoring engineers and coordinating with subcontractors.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least five years of PM/MEP experience in a contracting environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural, Mechanical, and/or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
• Proven ability to assist with responsibilities for complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform cost control and financial management.
• Work with Preconstruction on project estimate and schedule.
• Coordinate scopes of work.
• Review and compile pay applications, change requests, and other project financial documentation.
• Partner with the Project Manager or Construction Executive.
• Draft client proposals.
• Contract administration and management.
• Award subcontracts.
• Provide direction to the project team for safe and timely project completion.
• Act as liaison for project engineers, mentor, and coach others.
• Provide job assignments and manage career development.
• Direct responsibilities and guide Field Engineer(s) and Project Engineer(s).
• Manage subcontractors and suppliers for the project.
• Oversee budget for and make recommendations for subcontractors and trade partners.
• Lead project buyout with subcontractors and trade partners.
• Facilitate and lead meetings between subcontractors related to project coordination.
• Lead and direct the 3-D coordination process to resolve all conflicts prior to installation.
• Direct and manage the commissioning process on the project inclusive of the start-up plan, COT, commissioning schedule, and functional testing.
• Lead all activities required in the project closeout inclusive of operations and maintenance manuals, model turn over and training.
