Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Assistant MEP Project Manager to oversee mechanical, electrical, and plumbing scopes from bid through client acceptance. You will partner with the Project Manager, lead a project team, and mentor staff to ensure safe, timely project completion.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in a related field and at least five years of relevant experience with a mechanical or electrical contractor. Strong communication and budgeting skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural, Mechanical, and/or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Five years of related experience, preferably with a mechanical or electrical contractor.
• Ability to assist with all responsibilities for complex projects.
• Detail orientation to manage multiple project tasks.
• Understanding of construction law and business practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform cost control and financial management
• Work with Preconstruction on project estimate and schedule
• Coordinate scopes of work
• Review and compile pay applications, change requests, and other project financial documentation
• Partner with the Project Manager or Construction Executive
• Draft client proposals
• Contract administration and management
• Award subcontracts
• Provide direction to the project team for safe and timely project completion
• Act as liaison for project engineers, mentor, and coach others
• Provide job assignments and manage career development
• Direct responsibilities and guide Field Engineer(s) and Project Engineer(s)
• Manage subcontractors and suppliers for the project
• Oversee budget for and make recommendations for subcontractors and trade partners
• Lead project buyout with subcontractors and trade partners
• Facilitate and lead meetings between subcontractors related to project coordination
• Lead and direct the 3-D coordination process to resolve all conflicts prior to installation
• Direct and manage the commissioning process on the project inclusive of the start-up plan, COT, commissioning schedule, and functional testing
• Lead all activities required in the project closeout inclusive of operations and maintenance manuals, model turn over and training
• Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to:
• Perform on-site Project Manager duties on small scope projects
• Implement a quality plan that ensures the customer’s specified performance criteria in design and construction
