Job summary

PMCS Group, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Construction Manager to support the City of Los Angeles BOE on the 2.6B Convention Center expansion, overseeing MEP coordination on a busy design-build project in the LA area.

The candidate will work under the BOE Construction Manager, providing owner's representative oversight of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and low-voltage systems through construction, commissioning, and closeout, with occupied-facility experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 5 years of construction management/MEP coordination on large projects.
• Experience with MEP systems on occupied/public facilities and phased construction preferred.
• Working knowledge of California codes and commissioning processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam and PMIS platforms; strong communication skills.
• Valid California driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide owner’s representative oversight of MEP, fire protection, and low-voltage systems.
• Review submittals, drawings, data, and design packages for code conformance.
• Coordinate RFI responses and design clarifications with teams and city stakeholders.
• Observe MEP installation, document deficiencies, and verify corrective actions.
• Support phasing, shutdowns, and coordination for occupied spaces and central plant work.
• Coordinate with utility providers and authorities for inspections and sign-offs.
• Review CPM schedules, long-lead equipment, and sequencing; flag risks.
• Witness commissioning and track Cx issues to turnover to operations.
• Prepare progress reports and document control entries; assist in closeout activities.
