Responsibilities

• Assist head coach in establishing team goals for season and ensure alignment with MassBay Athletic program.
• Recruit and train eligible players, organize and supervise all aspects of the team sport; attend practices and games.
• Knowledge of league rules and best practices for sport techniques, rules and regulations.
• Communicate daily with Assistant Director of Athletics regarding season progression, practices, game results, and player eligibility.
• Distribute and collect all team equipment to players during the season.
• Represent the university and team at athletic events (competitions, conferences, etc.).
• Assist with game day setup and breakdown.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational communityand have a desire and ability to serve a population of students with variousneeds and backgrounds. This is a part-time position with no benefits. Theideal candidate will work in conjunction with head coach to supervise anddevelops an intercollegiate varsity team, including in-season and off-seasonprogramming, in accordance with institutional and departmental objectiveswithin the rules and regulations of the athletic governing bodies.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Assist head coach in establishing team goals for season and ensure that they are in line with those of the entire MassBay Athletic program;
• Responsible for recruiting and training eligible players, organizing, implementing, coordinating and supervising all aspects of the team sport and for attending practices and games;
• Responsible for knowledge of and adhering to league rules and best practices pertaining to sport techniques, rules and regulations;
• Communicate daily with Assistant Director of Athletics regarding season progression including details regarding practices, game results, and player eligibility;
• Distribute and collect all team equipment to players throughout the season;
• Represents the university and team at all appropriate athletic events (e.g. competitions, conferences, and college sanctioned programs such as open houses);
• Assists with game day set-up and breakdown;
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Experience coaching basketball at a competitive level.

Salary Range: $6,500 per season
