Kj’s Market, a family-owned grocer serving the Carolinas since 1922, seeks a Meat/Seafood Department Lead to provide top-notch guest service and supervise the beef shoppe team. You will drive sales, manage inventory, and uphold quality and sanitation standards.

Qualifications

• Candidate should have strong interpersonal and selling skills.
• Must be able to work well with others and interact with customers.
• Knowledge of meat/seafood products and operations is preferred.
• Ability to supervise staff including training and development.
• Willingness to learn multiple tasks and operate a computer.

Responsibilities

• Greets guests warmly and creates a selling environment in the beef shoppe.
• Achieves budgeted sales, and manages supplies, shrink and gross profit for meat and seafood.
• Maintains inventory levels and ensures in-stock conditions through proper ordering.
• Operates department per merchandising and operational programs.
• Maintains quality and freshness, ensuring products are in date.
• Ensures safety and sanitation in meat/seafood prep, coolers, freezers, and sales floor.
• Provides guidance and training to meat/seafood staff to meet performance standards.
• Performs product prep, receiving, stocking and guest service to meet standards.
• Manages department labor budget and schedules to maximize sales and guest service.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Responsibilities

• Ensures all guest receive polite, friendly greetings and interactions from the Beef Shoppe staff. Creates a selling environment through the use of selling skills.
• Achieves budgeted sales, supply/wrap, shrink and gross profits for the meat and seafood departments.
• Maintains desired level of inventory and supplies for the meat and seafood departments. Ensures in stock conditions through proper ordering.
• Operates the department according to merchandising and operational programs and guidelines.
• Maintains high quality and freshness with products available for sale. Ensures all products are in date.
• Maintains safety and sanitation standards in all areas that come in contact with meat/seafood and in the prep areas, coolers, freezers, and sales floor.
• Provides guidance, orientation, training, and feedback to the meat/seafood department staff to ensure meat hosts achieve satisfactory performance standards and guest interaction.
• Performs product preparation, receiving, stocking, and guest service as necessary to achieve standards.
• Maintains the department’s labor budget and ensures that optimal hours are scheduled for the department to maximize sales and guest service.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Should possess good interpersonal skills, effective selling skills, and have an outgoing personality.
• Ability to work well with others. Ability to sell and interact with customers.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. occasionally and 25 lbs. constantly.
• Ability to read and understand information and directions.
• Knowledge of meat/seafood products and operations.
• Ability to supervise people including training and development.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job, including operating a computer.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to work in a cold environment.
• Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods of time.
