Kj’s Market in Augusta, GA is actively seeking a meat department supervisor to help manage daily operations and maintain high standards for quality and customer service.

The role requires 18+ years old with meat or supermarket experience and the ability to lift heavy loads. The department head will oversee scheduling, inventory, training, and adherence to company policies while ensuring guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school education and 1–3 years meat or supermarket experience.
• Must be 18 years old.
• Lift up to 50 lbs occasionally; 25 lbs constantly.
• Read and understand information and direction.
• Knowledge of meat operations.
• Supervise people, including training and development.
• Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
• Effective communication, guest service and selling skills.
• Bend, kneel, stand, push/pull carts for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Follow weekly company sales program to attain maximum sales volume.
• Achieve budgeted gross profit figures as set by Meat Merchandising.
• Prepare meat records as required by Accounting & Merchandising Departments.
• Follow policies on weighing, pricing, packaging, and displaying merchandise.
• Unload trucks and maintain backroom storage.
• Maintain coolers and freezers to standard.
• Accountable for inventory control.
• Reinforce sanitation, safe food handling practices, security, safety, and company guidelines.
• Assist guests and maintain good customer relations.
• Consult with Store Manager to review meat operations, planning and scheduling.
• Schedule the department.
• Ensure department runs in compliance with company standards (ALI audits).
• Ensure direct reports understand expectations, provide feedback and conduct performance reviews.
• Teach and train departmental staff; develop a talent bench.
• All other tasks as assigned by management.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for scheduling of the department.
• Ensures the department is run in compliance with company standards (as measured by ALI audits).
• Ensures direct reports understand expectations for performance, holds them accountable to achieve productivity goals and meets with them to review performance and provide feedback (ongoing and annual performance appraisal).
• Personally responsible for teaching and training departmental staff. Additionally, builds a talent planning bench for the department, including developing and executing development plans for all high-potential and promotable individuals.
• All other tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• The skill and knowledge generally associated with a high school education and 1-3 years meat or supermarket experience.
• Must be 18 years old.
