Goodwill Industries of Southwestern Michigan in South Haven is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to oversee daily store operations and production goals within a fast-paced retail environment.
You will train and coach team members, manage sales performance, stock control, cash handling and compliance with safety guidelines, while upholding the organization’s values and mission. Reliable vehicle and willingness to work varied hours to open or close the store are required.

Goodwill SWMI manages ten retail stores (with attached, attended donation centers and one stand-alone donation center), Contract Manufacturing Operations as well as Custodial & Janitorial business units. These business operations provide stability to our organization that is not always enjoyed by nonprofit organizations solely funded by outside sources.

It is the responsibility of the Assistant Store Manager to assist in the daily operation of retail store and production according to established procedures; work to meet sales and production goals, develop team members, practice and model agency’s core values of Success, Collaboration, People and Productivity.
Demonstrated competence in interpersonal relations, leadership and problem solving
Demonstrated experience in cash handling
Strong reading, writing, speaking and communication skills
Ability to train and explain processes to others
Ability to motivate self and others
Previous supervisory experience preferred
Previous retail and merchandising experience preferred
High school diploma or equivalent required
Additional college coursework preferred
Must be able to lift 35 pounds repeatedly, reaching, bending, twisting; extended periods spent standing
Must be able to work a variety of hours in order to close or open the store
Must have a reliable vehicle in order to conduct required off-site agency business
Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator license
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and theft-related background check
