Job summary

Princess Cruises and Holland America Line is seeking an Assistant Manager for Retail Stores at Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge. The role supervises Gift Shop staff, manages schedules, and ensures smooth daily operations including cash handling and inventory control.

The position is seasonal full-time, located on-site at the Denali lodge, with a focus on guest engagement and memorable shopping experiences for guests of the cruise line brands.

Qualifications

• Must pass a pre-employment background check.
• Minimum age 18 to reside in company housing where available.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

• Motivate the sales team and engage guests.
• Develop schedules for employees and monitor timecards daily.
• Oversee opening and closing of retail venues; manage cash and card transactions.
• Inventory and warehouse management including receiving and distribution.
• Supervise periodic physical inventories and resolve discrepancies.
• Generate maximum sales while providing excellent service.
• Coordinate with multiple departments in a friendly, professional manner.
• Maintain records, reports, and files per company policies.
• Oversee display and presentation of products; stocking and replenishing merchandise.
• Monitor alarms and liaise with guests, staff, security and management as needed.
• Keep work areas organized, clean and sanitized.

Or perhaps they are bringing a part of their experience home to share with others. Our retail locations help make this possible. The Assistant Manager, Retail Stores is a key component in motivating the retail staff to find that “just right” souvenir for each guest and make those connections and memories.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists in motivating the sales team and engaging guests.
• Develop schedules for employees and monitor their timecards daily.
• Overseeing opening and closing of retail venues including proper cash and credit card transactions and accountability.
• Inventory and warehouse management (receiving, ticketing, and distributing).
• Supervise periodic physical inventories as well as potential count discrepancies.
• Generating maximum sales while providing excellent customer service and work environment.
• Communicates and coordinates with multiple departments in a friendly and professional manner.
• Maintain records, reports, logs, and files in accordance with company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Responsible for the overall display and presentation of the products in the store including stocking, and replenishing merchandise.
• May monitor alarms and communicate with guests, employees, security, management, and emergency personnel in the event of urgent and/or emergent medical and non-medical incidents on the property.
• Keep work areas organized, clean, and sanitized.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must pass a pre-employment background check.
• Minimum age of 18 years is required to reside in company housing, where available.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States. Holland America-Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-2B status).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs./23kg.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work, and maintain attention to time constraints, while working in a team or group environment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and external influences.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving daily goals.
• Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures, and guidelines including support and comply with company health and safety standards.
• Ability to stand/walk/work on feet for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
