The Assistant Manager supports the General Manager in the daily operations of the indoor playground and café, ensuring every family enjoys a safe, clean, and memorable experience. This hands‑on leader coaches team members, provides exceptional customer service, maintains operational excellence, and steps into leadership whenever the General Manager is unavailable.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and motivate team members by modeling professionalism, positivity, and servant leadership.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and coaching new employees.
- Provide ongoing feedback to ensure high performance and accountability.
- Assign daily tasks and ensure they are completed efficiently.
- Act as Manager on Duty when needed.
Customer Experience
- Welcome guests and ensure every family receives outstanding service.
- Build relationships with guests and resolve concerns quickly and professionally.
- Support birthday parties, special events, and group visits to ensure smooth execution.
- Encourage team members to create fun, engaging, and memorable experiences for every child.
Child Safety & Facility Supervision
- Ensure all child safety policies and procedures are consistently followed.
- Monitor the playground to promote safe play and address unsafe behavior immediately.
- Verify proper check-in/check-out procedures and wristband security.
- Respond appropriately to accidents and emergencies and complete incident reports.
- Maintain a safe, welcoming environment for children and families.
Operations & Cleanliness
- Assist with opening and closing procedures.
- Ensure the facility remains clean, sanitized, and organized throughout the day.
- Complete operational checklists and ensure company standards are met.
- Identify maintenance needs and communicate them promptly.
- Help manage labor efficiency and daily operational flow.
Sales & Business Growth
- Encourage upselling while focusing on enhancing the guest experience.
- Support community events and marketing initiatives.
- Help achieve revenue and guest satisfaction goals.
Qualifications
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience in hospitality, retail, food service, childcare, family entertainment, or children's ministry preferred.
- Experience working with children in a daycare, preschool, camp, school, or children's ministry is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Passion for serving children and families.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain after hire) preferred.
- Manager Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain after hire).
- Must successfully pass a background check.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Comfortable working in both the playground and café environments.
