Job summary

Hirschfeld Properties LLC is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Supervisor in Cockeysville, MD. The role supports the Maintenance Supervisor and Property Manager in maintaining safe, comfortable living spaces for residents.

The technician will oversee work orders, manage make-ready turnovers, and perform preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliances while upholding the company’s standards and resident service expectations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in the trades, facilities, and/or residential building maintenance
• 1-2 years supervisory experience
• HVAC, EPA, and/or NATE certification
• Knowledge of risk management, OSHA, and MSDS
• Proficiency with HVAC, plumbing, electrical trades, and appliance repair
• Basic carpentry, drywall, and painting skills
• Safety-minded with attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Professional appearance
• MS Office proficiency and tech comfort
• Availability for on-call emergencies
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Ability to lift 25–50 pounds frequently and navigate stairs and weather

Responsibilities

• Completes work orders using building systems knowledge (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, safety systems)
• Lead by example and uphold Hirschfeld values
• Follow up with residents and complete service tickets promptly
• Resolve maintenance issues across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and appliances
• Manage make-ready and turnover processes for leasing apartments
• Conduct preventative maintenance to preserve building value
• Maintain site cleanliness, snow removal, and grounds upkeep
• Ensure safety codes compliance and accident-free operation
• Participate in weekend and on-call rotations
• Respond professionally to complaints
• Monitor supplies and report needs to management
• Maintain equipment, supplies, and company vehicle
• Assist with eviction processes and resident requests
• Adhere to safety training guidelines
• Perform other related duties as assigned
