Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Assistant Construction Manager in Richmond, VA, to lead construction projects within the Life Science North America group. You will oversee onsite activities, coordinate with engineers and contractors, and ensure safety, schedule, and budget adherence.

You will bring 8+ years in life science construction or related fields, strong knowledge of MEP systems, and experience with project controls and 3D modeling tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of experience managing industrial/commercial construction projects (life science preferred)
• Knowledge of construction activity sequencing and execution
• Experience with 3D modeling software on active projects
• Experience with project budgets and cost management
• Experience with project scheduling and schedule updates
• Knowledge of QA/QC testing and reporting
• Understanding of commissioning/qualification for MEP systems
• Familiarity with project controls and procurement strategies

Responsibilities

• Perform onsite activities including inspections and field administration
• Conduct project meetings with contractors and stakeholders
• Maintain official project documentation and logs
• Review submittals, drawings, and certifications for turnover
• Ensure construction aligns with design specifications and drawings
• Manage or support project financials and change management
• Support long-range scheduling and status updates
• Complete closeout with client satisfaction and records
• Foster cooperation between client, contractor, and stakeholders
