Job summary

The Anderson County Library System is seeking an Assistant Library Director to lead a team in delivering excellent patron services, manage collections, plan engaging programs, and support the community’s information needs. This role requires strong organizational skills and deep knowledge of library operations and personnel management.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in library science from an accredited university.
• Minimum of five years’ supervisory experience in at least two library departments.
• Strong knowledge of library operations, policies, and community services.
• Excellent research and computer skills; ability to work with multiple projects.
• Ability to supervise staff and maintain professional relationships.
• Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Library Branch Managers, Bookmobile, and Outreach staff, including evaluations and discipline.
• Direct branch operations, planning, policies, and goals for branch services.
• Plan and coordinate activities across branches; assess and improve services.
• Prepare and manage grants; report on funding outcomes.
• Meet regularly with Department Heads; lead committees as needed.
• Compile statistics and analyze data to inform decisions.
• Ensure patron services and confidentiality; monitor outreach.
