Job summary

Portland Bottling Company is seeking an Assistant Lead for the Packaging Department on swing shift in Clackamas, OR. You will assist the Lead and Manager with day-to-day Repack operations and supervise the department when the Lead is absent.

The role requires bilingual Spanish and English, a High School Diploma, and 6 months of production experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP experience are valued.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 6 months experience in production/manufacturing required, food/beverage preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports and trains to be a lead on Repack floor activities while following SOPs and safety guidelines.
  • Assists with daily Repack production operations to ensure 1st time quality.
  • Ensures processes are efficient and cost-effective.
  • Works on the Repack floor to cover workload and train employees.
  • Assists Repack Lead in personnel management and translation as needed.
  • Coordinates training of new and existing employees.
  • Enters inventory into ERP for documentation and tracking.
  • Demonstrates safety-conscious leadership and problem-solving on line equipment.
  • Represents the company with a positive image.
  • Stands in for the Lead during vacations or sickness as needed.

Pay, Shift and Location
  • $21 / hour starting wage!! More for experienced associates!
  • $2.00 / hour shift differential!!
  • 9 Paid Floating Holidays

The Assistant / Back Up Lead is responsible for assisting the Lead and Manager with the day-to-day work of the Repack production and operation, while performing regular duties as a Repack employee. This position also provides back-up support while the Lead is absent including the supervision of the department operations (production, safety, throughput, 1st time quality, sanitation and maintenance and waste).

Key Responsibilities
  • Supports and trains to be a lead on activities on the Repack floor, aligning with good management practices and standard operating procedures, ensuring safety guidelines are followed, preventing accidents and injuries, and equipment and facility damage
  • Assists with the daily/routine activities of the Repack production operation to ensure 1st time quality consistently and effectively by employees.
  • Assists with processes and procedures to ensure they are efficient and performed in a cost-effective manner
  • Works hands-on on the Repack floor as needed to cover the production workload, demonstrate expectations, and train employees.
  • Assists Repack Lead in the personnel management of the Repack employees, including providing translation as needed.
  • Coordinates training of new employees and the ongoing training of all employees.
  • Enters inventory information into ERP system for proper documentation and tracking
  • Provides leadership by demonstrating high standards of work practices and safety-conscious behaviors.
  • Responds to and troubleshoots problems with line equipment such as mechanical issues, and escalates issues appropriately
  • Represents and promotes a positive image of the Company
  • Stands in for the Lead during vacations and sickness as needed
Qualifications
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 6 months of experience working in a production/manufacturing environment required, food/beverage manufacturing preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to build and sustain positive working relationships with fellow employees
  • Ability to maintain effectiveness (quality) and efficiency (productivity) in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information
  • Experience working with an ERP is preferred
  • Experience and mechanical ability related to standard production equipment (i.e., conveyors, HMI's, filling machines) is a plus
