Silverspot Cinema is seeking a passionate and flexible Assistant Kitchen Manager / Sous Chef. This role supports the Kitchen Manager in maintaining high standards of quality, sanitation, cleanliness, and staff training in cooking, preparation, presentation, portioning, and cost control. The position reports directly to the Kitchen Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop operational familiarity to step in for the Kitchen Manager when needed.
• Assist in resolving kitchen operational issues.
• Ensure staff adherence to procedures and protocols.
• Oversee kitchen operations while actively working with staff.
• Collaborate on maintaining optimal working conditions and service quality.
• Manage inventory and food orders weekly, reviewing reports for food cost management.
• Maintain sanitation standards and health code compliance.
• Schedule staff according to budget and sales needs.
• Foster a positive, professional work environment.
• Stay updated on food trends and industry standards.

Required Qualifications/Skills

• At least 3 years of experience as a Sous Chef or similar role; supervisory experience is a plus.
• College degree preferred.
• ServSafe Manager Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Up-to-date relevant certifications (e.g., ServSafe, Food Handler).
• Ability to supervise, motivate staff, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
• Reliable attendance is essential.
