The New York City Department of Investigation (DOI) is one of the oldest law enforcement agencies in the country, with a mission to combat municipal corruption. It serves the people of New York City by acting as an independent, nonpartisan watchdog for City government, agencies, employees, vendors with City contracts, and entities receiving City funds.
Squad 10, which includes the Offices of the Inspectors General for the Department of Transportation (DOT), Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Department of Design and Construction (DDC), and Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), seeks an experienced investigator to serve as an Assistant Inspector General. This squad oversees a significant portion of the City's capital budget and key projects related to public facilities, water and sewer infrastructure, transportation, and parks.
The Assistant Inspector General (AIG) will lead and conduct criminal investigations into fraud and corruption involving City agencies, employees, and contractors. Responsibilities include investigating embezzlement, procurement fraud, conflicts of interest, waste, and mismanagement. The AIG will perform complex financial analyses, document reviews, and prepare detailed reports. The role may also involve supervising other investigators in a limited capacity.
Selected candidates will undergo fingerprinting, a background check, and a review of consumer credit history as per NYC Administrative Code 8-107(24)(b)(2)(A).
